One day I got my eyes on an add for kittens of sacred birmans in the newspaper so we went to
discover this rase a bit closer. Two hours later we had made our minds up to be catowners.
We had chosen a sweet sealpointed birman male who got the nickname Simba.
Here in Sweden "the Lionking" by Walt Disney was very popular at the time. I guess you could say
our feeling for the djungle theme might have started here already :)
As we both were working full time at the moment we felt sorry for Simba who had to be all by himself during daytime.
Said and done, the year after we went to get our sealpointed lady LillFia, and as so many before us
we wanted to try having kittens before the cats retirement so November 4th 1999 our first litter
hit daylight, and after that first litter we were stuck.
At the moment we have had our 24th litter since then.
Today about twelve years later I can tell you that nothing beats having kittens running around
in the house. Already during our first "trying it out" year of 1999 we took our breeder name -
S* Sajberkattens.
Translated into english it means - Cybercats - and the S* is short for Sweden.
Our interest for the sacred birman cat and to once in a while join a catshow has just turned
stronger since we started up and our "cat family" is turning larger.
The cats are of course living with us in the whole house but also have free access to the catrun
where they can be all year around.
Since we started our little breed in the year 1999 we have been members of the catclub Nerikes kattklubb which is working under SVERAK and FIFE.
We are also members in the sacred birman sociaty here in Sweden, which is a club for people
interested in sacred birmans.
Except birmans and breeding them we also have other interests in life.
One of the real big ones is american vintage cars of the 50th and 60th. This hobby is of course mostly enjoyed during summertime as we have long winters with lots of snow in this country.
Summtertime we just love cruising around and listen to good old music from that time.
We also attend lots of car meetings during summer.
I will try to keep you updated some in the garage blog. We just have to see how that will work out?!
Here I also want to thank all my earlier and becoming kitten owners to us and also our fantastic
families who accept to keep and hold some of our breedingcats, especially our studs.
And of course all people who have helped, supported and been coming with good advices when needed
during our long and crooked catjourney.
Without you the jungle can be become deep and sticky.
Thanks to you all!
Please now have a real nice time in our cat djungle!
